First of its kind in Philadelphia
At Greencastle we are excited to share a new project that Troy Beane is working on. Microgrids (MORE INFO) are a relatively new concept. A microgrid is a local energy grid with control capability, which means it can disconnect from the traditional grid and operate autonomously. Troy and team are working to create a microgrid in the Philadelphia region.
From Troy’s LinkedIn post:
Greencastle Associates Consulting is proud to have provided the project management to PECO in developing this cutting edge project proposal and Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission Filing to bring a Microgrid Integrated Technology Pilot to the Philadelphia region.
Microgrids present an excellent opportunity to showcase the advancements in Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), Renewable Energy, Smart Grid Technology, High speed communications and innovative software and controls to redefine the capabilities of Energy Reliability and Resiliency by reducing previous multi-day outages from severe storms and catastrophic events to mere minutes through efficient management and balancing of local power generation and local energy demand needs.
